Some sad news to share — another of our classmates who attended the reunion in July 2006 has passed away.

Daniel Charles Walker, 58, of Shelocta, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at his home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Indiana, Pa., son of Lester C. and Betty J. (Bark) Walker, of Indiana.

After 17 years working in the coal mines of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Mr. Walker opened Dan’s Barber Shop in Homer City in 1991. He spent the next 16 years serving the Homer City area, during which he developed many lasting friendships.

Mr. Walker loved to watch sports and spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. He also had a great love for Corvettes.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, June (Cashdollar) Walker; one daughter, Jill Walker Conrad and husband, Ron, of Elderton; two grandchildren, Tyler Shane Walker and Bailey Rose Conrad, of Elderton; one brother, Randall J. Walker and wife, Connie, of Rural Valley; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Florie and Annie Walker and maternal grandparents, Robert and Phyllis Bark.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the C. FREDERICK BOWSER FUNERAL HOME INC., Homer City. Additional viewing will take place from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Balint officiating. Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery.
